My Thoughts On The Matter…

Okay, I’ve been seeing nothing but this clown nonsense on my feed for the past few days and I’m honestly starting to get really freaking upset over all of this so I wanted to share my thoughts on the matter. I may even do a video on this later.

Let me start by saying that I personally really, completely unironically like clowns. Especially creepy ones. So you guys will know what perspective this is coming from, from the get go.

I am absolutely SICK and DISGUSTED by all of the utter fools dressing up in cheap party city clown costumes, jumping on board the hype and making REAL clowns look bad. But I am EVEN MORE disgusted by the level of hatred and violence people have been showing towards clowns in general as a result.

Now don’t get me wrong. I really don’t like the jackasses dressing up and creating the problem. They are absolutely the root of the problem. But at the end of the day, this hysteria that has swept the nation is utter bullocks. 

Looking at FACTS, not “oh I heard”, “my friend saw”, or “someone said…”, very few people dressed as clowns have actually done anything remotely violent. The vast majority are just idiots thinking it’ll be fun to spook people, and maybe they’ll have their friends record them and get a bit of attention along the way.

We do NOT have an epidemic of clowns stabbing, killing, or kidnapping people. 

Yes, there are definitely a lot of people dressing up and lurking around, but last time I checked there weren’t any laws about dressing strange and standing around public places.

Once again, I acknowledge that there have been a handful of reported cases where crimes were committed, but this is not nearly anything to warrant the level of panic that has spread.

Now on to what really has me pissed. If you think a couple high schoolers dressed in bad cheap clown costumes is bad, the response has been utterly abysmal.

Everywhere I look, people are talking about “clown hunting”. They are talking about intentionally hunting them down with the intend to beat them. There’s even a great deal of talk about shooting them on sight and claiming that they were allowed to because they “feared for their life” which honestly wouldn’t fly in court let’s be real here. 

I’m sorry but unless you are actively being attacked and need to defend yourself, since when did it become okay to attempt murder? You don’t like clowns? I don’t care. Doesn’t make it okay to turn into a mouth-breathing savage.

Again, I’ve got no sympathy for dressing up scary and terrorizing people (though this is Halloween season so really, what do people expect?) I do NOT like the people dressing as clowns, but I don’t think they deserve to be beaten or murdered because they are assholes.

And finally, what ultimately drove me to write this was a SERIOUS problem that is a direct result of all of this.

People are now threatening REAL clowns. 

Never in my life have I seen such open and widely expressed HATRED for clowns. It’s sad but people tend to forget that clowning is a real profession. And there are actually a lot of professional scary clowns that work haunts and events and whatnot. They are great people who do nothing but entertain people and spread their spooky joy. And now THEY are starting to receive threats of violence because people can’t seem to differentiate between a kid in a $30 party city costume, and professional entertainers.

I’VE SEEN IT. PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL SHOT IN THE FACE. 

These mouth-breathing “tough guys” come on to their professional pages and leave threats. Some of them are seriously messed up. It’s gotten so bad that PROFESSIONALS ARE QUITTING OUT OF FEAR. They are literally giving up their Halloween events because they are afraid people will come to hurt them.

I’m honestly so upset over this I’m having a hard time properly expressing my thoughts.

You guys, please don’t hate clowns as a whole and don’t threaten them. These assholes running around are NOT clowns. They’re idiots in costumes. I understand if you’re scared of them, but please don’t promote or support anyone who says they want to shoot all clowns or anything violent like that. 

Halloween is my favorite time of year and I’m honestly just waiting for it to pass now because I’m scared SICK for the people I care about that work as professional scary clowns. What are you supposed to do when people you care for are receiving tons of threats to their lives every day, and they haven’t even done anything? And all because of this stupid hype culture we have.

I’m begging you guys. Just let this stupid phase pass. If you see a “clown” walking around, just IGNORE them. Those idiots are only doing it for attention, and if they stop getting it, they’ll stop doing it! 

Yes, it’s reasonable to defend yourself if you’re being attacked. BUT BE REAL. The statistic do not support that happening. This is not a pandemic of violence. Just a few isolated incidents.

In the very least, please be aware of the difference between entertainers and wannabe pranksters. These people don’t deserve the hate being flung at them. 

I just want this to be over already. Please don’t hurt the people I care about. I don’t know how much more stress over their well-being my heart can take.
